About James Fuson
James Fuson's art and poetry reflects his experiences surrounding his tumultuous childhood, the tragic events that led to his imprisonment, the nearly three decades locked up, and the ups and downs of his recent release.
He has appeared in hundreds of journals and anthologies for his poetry and won the 2023 Kresge Arts In Detroit Fellowship for Literary Arts.
His drawings and paintings have appeared in various galleries, including the University of Michigan Duderstadt Center Gallery (various times over the last 11 years), the College for Creative Studies Valade Gallery (2018), 9338 Campau Gallery (2017), and the Detroit Institute of Arts Diego Rivera Court (2015).
